Dear Mom and Dad:


We are overjoyed to announce that the summer of 2008 will introduce an exciting and dynamic youth ministry program in the Direct Archdiocesan District! Archbishop Demetrios has provided the vision and blessing for the establishment of Camp St. Paul, the summer youth camp of the Direct Archdiocesan District.  Dates for Camp St. Paul are Week 1: June 30-July 6, 2008 and Week 2: July 7-13, 2008. All JOY children (grades 3-6) and GOYAns (grades 7-12) are welcome to participate!  

Camp St. Paul will be a Christ centered environment where our youth will grow in Christian faith, and make life long friendships.  With your prayers and support, our camp will become an anchor of faith for our young people, as they return each year to be with clergy, staff members, and Orthodox Christian peers.

On Lake Bantam in the Berkshire Hills of Litchfield Connecticut, the children of our district will pray together each day, sing around the campfire, and play on the athletic field.  They will discuss scripture, theology and major social issues in their daily sessions, and they will express their creativity in arts and crafts.  Campers will swim, canoe and waterslide on Lake Bantam, enjoying the blessing and silence of natural surroundings.  They will learn and grow together, making bonds of friendship with Greek Orthodox peers.

BASIC INFORMATION BELOW-

1.      Location: Camp St. Paul will take place at a facility calledCamp Hope.  It is located at 83 Lenox Hill Road Litchfield, CT 06759, right off of Highway 202.  It's just 45 minutes west of Hartford , about two hours north of New York City.

2.      Contact Information:  Phone number during camp: (860) 567-1525.   Phone number before and after Camp: 646 519 6190.  Email: NYYouth.@goarch.org.   Mailing address before and after camp: Acmp St. Paul C/O Greek Orthodox Church of Our Savior 2195 Westchester Ave., Rye, New York, 10580.

  1. Registration:  Each camper must have a complete Registration Packet submitted to Camp St. Paul by June 1, 2008 in order to participate:
  1. A completed and accurate "Registration Form"
  2. A completed "Permission Form" signed by parent/guardian and camper
  3. A completed "Camper Covenant" signed by parent/guardian and camper
  4. A completed Medical form, signed by a physician (This form will be sent to your home upon confirmation of registration.)
  5. A photocopy of health insurance cards including policy number and name of insured
  6. A check or money order in the amount of $500.00 for camper registration
  1. Confirmation: A letter of confirmation of registration will be sent upon receipt of your RegistrationPacket.
  2. Arrival:  Campers must arrive at the campsite between the hours of 12:00 and 2:00 pm-  for  week 1 - June 30th,  Week 2- July 7th.  .
  3. Departure:  Campers must be picked up between the hours of 11:00 am and 12:00 pm on July 8th.  
  4. Transportation to Camp:  A bus from Hempstead to camp will be provided for an additional $100.00.  The bus will leave St. Paul's Church on Monday, July 2, 9am.  The bus will leave Camp Saint for Hempstead on Sunday, July 8th, at 12pm.  
  5. CampStore:  Campers will want spending money for snacks, drinks, sweatshirts, etc. at the camp store.
  6. What to Bring:  Bible, prayer book, pillow, pillow case, sleeping bag or sheets and blanket, bath towel, toiletries, flip flops for shower, church clothes (Khakis and a button down for boys, casual knee length skirt and a shirt with short sleeves for girls), swim suit (See "Camp St. Paul Camper Covenant" for appropriate swim wear), beach towel, sunscreen, CD's for playing at dance and during free time (No Cursing or Vulgar Songs!), rain gear, spending money for camp store.
  7. What to Leave Behind:  Alcohol, tobacco products, drugs, weapons, walkman's, mp3 players or other personal music systems (Music will be played in common areas during the day and at the dance.  Campers may bring CD's to be played at appropriate times.), video game systems, computers, cell phones.  (Note:  These items will be taken by staff members if brought to camp.  Harmless items, such as walkmans and gameboys, will be returned at the conclusion of camp.  In the event of discovery of illegal or dangerous items, the parent(s)/guardian(s) will be notified and appropriate action will be taken.
