Stewardship

“If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. Now you are the body of Christ and individual members of it. ”

— 1 Corinthians 12:26-27

Questions you ask about Stewardship…

What happened to Dues?

The annual commitment of financial support to our parish ministries is now through Christian Stewardship. The immigrants who came to America adopted a system of “DUES” in order to create a financial base for their churches, even though this was foreign to Orthodox Christianity. Today Stewardship depends on our individual ability to give, which creates a more Christian and responsible way to finance the ministries of our Church.

How do we support the Church?

We support this church through the fair and equitable sharing of our time, talents, and treasures. If each of us gives in proportion to God’s blessings upon us, our church will continue to flourish. We ask that you pray about this most important decision and complete the Stewardship Card with the amount you pledge.

How much should I give?

You alone can answer this question. Keep in mind that our churches expenses continue and are increasing 5.5% from 2002. We have exceptional property that requires constant maintenance and repair. Fr. Elias and the community have initiated wonderful programs that have brought a renewal of faith and growth to our Church. Let us support the Church of Our Saviour and build for the generation to come.

“As each hath received a gift, employ it for one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.”
— 1 Peter 4:10

“Give according as God has prospered you. Remembering that ‘everyone to whom much is given of him will much be required.’”
— Luke 21:48

Have you noticed?

Our community continues to grow. Prosphora are up: We now use 5 prosphora on Sundays compared to 3. The number of children in our Sunday School and Hellenic School. The length of the communion line. The full church calendar replete with various ministries and activities. The continuing capital improvements and the Saint Iakovos Chapel in the Mansion.

But did you know?

How many volunteer hours it takes to run the ministries of the church. That to operate the ministries of our Church, it costs $1,085 per day. That it costs $7,596 each and every week to bring to fruition the ministries of our Church. The 100 largest stewardship commitments each average more than $1,000 per year.
