All Saints

The All Saints was founded by Father Elias in October 2014. He established our name which comes from the liturgical statement “The Holy gifts for the Holy people”. In other words, it translates as “the Holy people who are here on earth.” – /Father if this is not correct, please let me know./ The group normally meets on Tuesday of each month, unless an event needs to be rescheduled.

The purpose of the group is social, and we try to encourage seniors to join us when we visit interesting, historical places to learn, be entertained, and just plain enjoy our company. We go to museums for special exhibits such as “Delacroix’s paintings of “Massacre of Mesolonghi” and “Battle for Chios” at The Met. We have been to the 9/ll memorial Museum. We have attended performances at the Elmsford Broadway Theater, such as Camelot and Mama Mia. A visit to West Point was a most enlightening session of historical information about the people who became generals and who served on both sides of the Civil War and other wars. The views of the Hudson River were incredible. A Sping trip to the Botanical Gardens was incredible.
This is a very congenial group who enjoy each others company. While we are not a charitable group, we do try to donate to worthy institutions we visit, for example, Ayia Skepi, a Monastery for sisters and St. Nektarios, a Monastery for monks, as well as St. Basil’ Academy for children. Our Bake Sale helps us to raise money for these occasions.
We visited and dined at the Culinary Institute where several of our parishioners were trained and became successful restauranteurs.

At times, we will engage someone who may be a speaker who would be of particular interest to seniors. Our own George Hazlaris speaks to us about various religious topics, explaining what the Bible says or historical times during the Life of Jesus Christ. Questions do arise when members wish to know the difference of true tradition rather than yiayialogy.
